Karangahake Tunnel Walk
Karangahake Tunnel loop walk takes you along the Ohinemuri River and over the lower Waitawheta River where you will be amongst New Zealand native flora. A stunning surprise towards the end is the 1100m walk through the old railway tunnel, an experience all of its own. Upon finishing this walk you will pass the Crown Battery site, which was constructed in 1892 and later enlarged, to accommodate 60 stampers for crushing quartz. This is part of the Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway
Time: 45 minute loop
Directions: This walk can start at the main Karangahake carpark or at the carpark by the Karangahake Hall – North of the Main Karangahake car park

Pinnacles Walk
A track steeped in Kauri logging history. Remnants of the logging days can be seen on the track and in fact, the track itself follows the old packhorse track that took supplies up to the kauri loggers working and living in the hills.
Waiau Kauri Grove and Waterfall
Accessed from the 309 Road the Waiau Falls are easy to find, and the kauri giants stand majestically above the forest tops. A short walk takes you to the base of these magnificent specimens of the ancient kauri forest that once cloaked these hills.
Stargazers Astronomy Tours
